Step Back In Time this Weekend at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival!

Scarborough Renaissance Festival is interactive fun for everyone, 16th-century style! Here you will discover our 35-acre recreation of a 16th-century English village celebrating the visit of King Henry VIII and Queen Katherine Parr (wife number 6 for those who are counting), their royal court, and guests with a festival of entertainment, artisans, food, magic, and merriment! Join in the fun in the Village of Scarborough!

Enjoy full combat jousting and birds of prey exhibitions, a Mermaid Lagoon, 20+ stages of non-stop Renaissance entertainment and the 125+ member performing company. Discover the amazing Artisan’s Marketplace with 200+ shoppes of exquisite crafts and incredible artisan demonstrations. Experience Knighting Ceremonies, Human Chess Matches, the Grande Parade, daily Wine & Beer Tasting events, Themed Weekends, and so much more.

Scarborough has so much to offer kids too! The Children’s Knighting Ceremony, costume contests (on select weekends), a Faery Tea Party, shows designed just for kids, The Mermaid Lagoon, face painting, costumes, fairies, Renaissance rides, weekly themed contests, games of skill, and the All-New Royal Menagerie petting zoo just to name a few (some attractions and games & rides require an additional fee).

The majority of Scarborough Renaissance Festival’s (Scarborough Faire®) entertainment is rated PG and is acceptable for any age. However, there are some shows that are geared more toward children. Others are more appropriate for a mature audience and are rated PG-16 (not suitable for young children). The PG-16 shows are primarily located in the pub areas and are clearly indicated in the souvenir program, on the website, and on the stage signage.

Dallas Arts District Annual Changing Perspectives Block Party!

In celebration of Dallas Arts Month, Dallas Arts District is hosting the annual Changing Perspectives Block Party. This free family-friendly event will feature the return of the internationally renowned BANDALOOP Vertical Dance Company, celebrating the human spirit, nature, and communities through dance that uses climbing technology to expand and challenge what is possible. They will come to life on the streets of the Dallas Arts District! An innovator of vertical performance, BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality and intricate choreography to turn the dance floor on its side. The event demonstrates placemaking and space making at its best.

Changing Perspectives Block Party will also feature multi award-winning Tejano music artist, Monica Saldivar and Band, vibrant singer songwriter and entertainer Dezi 5 Entertainment, community muralist, Ebony Lewis, Kamica King, Bruce Wood Dance, Percussion Things, and St. Philips Percussion Ensemble, among others.

Don’t miss this family-friendly event with some of the best artists Dallas has to offer, gourmet food trucks, a community mural, and more!

The Streets of Downtown McKinney Come Alive This Weekend!

Produced and sponsored by McKinney Main Street, Arts in Bloom takes place in Historic Downtown McKinney and features over 120 juried artists, and the Local Artist Village, all set up on the tree-lined streets surrounding the McKinney Performing Arts Center.

A nationally recognized participant in the Main Street Program, downtown McKinney offers a unique and beautiful setting of restored, turn-of-the-century buildings that now feature cafes, offices, bars, boutiques, galleries and restaurants.

During the event, the streets of downtown come alive with fascinating sights and sounds as fine artists, performance artists, musicians, Texas wineries, and food vendors take part in the three-day celebration. There’s also a hands-on interactive area for children, the Kids Creation Station, where young Picasso’s can learn about art processes and create their own masterpieces.

Petting Zoo
This completely interactive petting zoo presented by Westland Ranch is a clean, healthy, safe environment that’s ideal for children as well as adults. Move freely among the animals and let the kids “groom” the animals with provided brushes. Miniature farm animals include goats, sheep, horses, mules, donkeys, potbelly pigs, cows, llamas and alpacas.
Admission is $5 per child, and each child may have one adult accompany them free of charge.
Admission for additional adults or adults attending without children is five coupons per person.

AirCRAFT activities are designed to help children ages four to 10 years old develop important capabilities by combining science, technology engineering, mathematics and… art! AirCRAFT is hosted the second Saturday of each month at the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum in Fort Worth.

The brand-new interactive live stage show Baby Shark’s Big Broadwave Tour! features characters from the globally beloved preschool property.  This tour brings the underwater world of the hit animated series, Baby Shark’s Big Show!, to life through an all-new original story, as audience members come together with Baby Shark and his undersea friends to save the Party Puddle Theatre.

Baby Shark’s Big Broadwave Tour! follows Baby and his “fincredible” fishy friends on an undersea adventure filled with oceans of fun and “finship”! After Bentley Barracuda plans to tear down the beloved Party Puddle Theatre, Baby and his squiddo friends must dive into action and travel to the deep dark depths of the ocean, to Wavey Jones’ Locker, and through “Finterstellar Space” to create a “flowstopping,” splash-hit Broadwave “swimsation.” To save the theatre, they will need the audience to help fill the Party Puddle Applause Meter and put on the biggest Broadwave show ever, showcasing everyone can Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo it!
